Post New Year time in Fiji and on the island of Tarawa with Tylor

On the first day at the Marriot Resort we had an activity planned. I got sick and could not go with Susan, Tylor, and Nicole. I stayed in bed to recover and they went and had a great time.
First stop was a Hindu Temple.

Then on to a village where they met with and had lunch with the chief.

The chief took them on a hike to some waterfalls for some fun and relaxation.

Then he showed them his greatgreatgrandfather"s home and told the story about him. His g,g,grandfather had received the first Christian missionaries in his village and held a feast for them. The head missionary dishonored the Chief by touching his hair comb so the chief killed him and then ate him.

Their host had them in his home for lunch. He prepared a local drink for them. Susan and Nicole tried it and said that it tasted like dirty socks.

Then they went to a Mudpool to have a therapeutic mud bath.

Did a little tree hugging along the way

They returned back to the Marriot Resort to find me slowly recuperating.

The next day we had a very nice dinner at one of the resort restaurants.

Tylor gave me a Broncos jersey to wear when I am playing sports

Finally it was time to leave Fiji and head back to Tarawa.

This is looking west down the island of Tarawa. The lagoon is on the right and the ocean is on the left.

The first order of business was to go to our local seamstress and have Tylor and Nicole measured for new matching outfits.

The next day we went out to show Tylor and Nicole around the island.

Our first stop was some of the war sites on the island.  These were Japanese soldiers barracks

This was an American tank left at the battle of Tarawa.

As we were walking around Tylor wondered what to look for to find relics. Then he looked down and saw this.

This is a display Tylor made after he got home.

USA military war memorial in Betio, Tarawa.

We then went and did a little fishing with my friends Tabuaki and Baurie

Our last day we drove around the island to show Tylor and Nicole some of the local life.

Then our last evening we went out to dinner and took these pictures of Tylor and Nicole in their new local made matching outfits.

Last sunset of a wonderful holiday time spent with Tylor and Nicole
